Vireo outlined a number of pedestrian safety improvements along Independence Avenue with the help of community input. The plan moves the transportation recommendations of previous plans forward and supports the vision of the area’s Special Character Overlay District. It also provides details the City may use as they pursue funding for construction. Vireo led multi-lingual community engagement (English, Spanish, and Somali), analyzed corridor walkability, and summarized the recommendations.
