Parkville Riverfront Parks

The City worked with Vireo to set a long-term vision for the Riverfront Parks, English Landing and Platte Landing. This vision includes improved amenities, trail connections, and restoration of 40 acres of Missouri River floodplain habitat.

Parkville’s Riverfront has long been a destination for regional and local visitors. Nearby downtown shops, festivals, and recreational amenities, including trails, sports fields, playgrounds, and access to the water provide a riverfront experience unmatched in the Metro. However, Parkville has faced considerable change since its establishment along the Missouri River in the 1840’s. This design effort, in conjunction with the ecosystem restoration, provides a sustainable road map for future funding, phasing, and maintenance to meet current local trends, growing regional desires, and future logistical challenges associated with sensitive ecosystems.
