Leavenworth VA Long Term Care Facility

Vireo was hired to assist with master plan and site design for the new Elderly Care Facility within the historic Leavenworth VA Campus. The new facility has a direct connection to the VA hospital and houses patients in recovery. The design focuses on creating a therapeutic environment by staging multiple areas outdoors to provide a variety of social, recreational, and therapeutic benefits. Research has validated the positive effect of nature in medical treatment and its ability to aid in the healing process, and here, patients are able to engage with natural elements in safe, inviting, and comfortable outdoor spaces.
