Ronald McDonald Serenity Garden
Kansas City, Missouri
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City partnered with Vireo to develop concepts for a serenity garden that will serve as the heart of the campus. The Charity and its donors worked closely with Vireo’s designers to envision a garden that brings hope, comfort, renewal, and nature to families with sick children.
The metamorphic and transformative journey of the butterfly provided an inspiring narrative for the design of the garden, as families undergo a similarly transformative and emotional journey during their stay at Ronald McDonald Houses. The serenity garden responds sensitively to this journey with a series of spaces meant to express themes of courage, strength, family, and love through a rich variety of materials, furnishings, and landscape plantings.
